An exhibition where the artists Bethany de Forest, Simone Hooymans and Ellen de Vries share their fascination for nature and the feasibility of the experience of this.
Lantic Scapes
The artists Bethany de Forest, Simone Hooymans and Ellen de Vries share their fascination with landscapes and create their own, surrealistic, sometimes idealistic versions of this. Their worlds take photographic and cinematic form through the use of analog / lo-fi techniques, combined with modern computer techniques.
Bethany de Forest works with the pinhole camera (camera obscura). The effect in combination with the self-created models of mini landscapes is surprising. She also makes stereo photos, stop-motion animations and holograms.
Simone Hooymans makes drawings that transform the recognizable world into an illusionary new world. She brings this world to life with 3D computer techniques. The whole is an experience of magical landscapes.
Ellen de Vries works with an analog (slide film) mid-format camera and is looking for surrealism in the real world. The square framed landscapes evoke tranquility and alienation.

De kunstenaars Bethany de Forest, Simone Hooymans en Ellen de Vries delen hun fascinatie voor landschappen en creëren hun eigen, surrealistische, soms idealistische versies hiervan. Hun werelden krijgen fotografisch en filmisch vorm door het gebruik van analoge/lo-fi technieken, gecombineerd met moderne computer technieken.
Bethany de Forest werkt met de pinhole camera (camera obscura). Het effect in combinatie met de door haar zelf gecreëerde maquettes van minilandschappen is verrassend. Ook maakt zij stereo foto’s, stop-motion animaties en hologrammen.
Simone Hooymans maakt tekeningen waarmee ze de herkenbare wereld transformeert tot een illusionaire nieuwe wereld. Deze wereld brengt zij tot leven met 3D computer technieken. Het geheel is een beleving van magische landschappen.
Ellen de Vries werkt met een analoge (dia film) middenformaat camera en is op zoek naar surrealisme binnen de werkelijke wereld. De vierkant gekaderde landschappen roepen verstilling en vervreemding op.
